EMYS™ was present at the largest ICT industry trade fair CeBIT 2012 in Hannover Germany (6 -10 March 2012). LIREC project was among 4,240 companies and projects from 70 countries exhibiting. 312,000 visitors from 110 countries visited CeBIT and it is estimated that between 10,000 and 15,500 people visited the LIREC booth. According to CeBIT organizers, “the leading themes were IT security, cloud computing, 3D, smart mobility and intelligent networking in every area of life, including government and administration, traffic planning and logistics, healthcare management”.

The fair was organized in a four-pillar structure comprised of CeBIT pro, gov, lab and life. LIREC was presented at the CeBIT lab, where universities, research institutes, industry, projects and start-ups met to present their work, prototypes and exchange ideas with exhibitors and visitors. Areas the were in the spotlight included: Internet of Things, mobile robotics, urban visions and qualified future workers. LIREC showcased FLASH™ and EMYS™ robots, the Emotion Tracker, Pleo 's migration to and from a Smartphone, the iCat playing chess while recognizing opponent emotions, Little Mozart migrating between 3 different platforms (iPod, iPad and Windows laptop).

The EMYS™ head attracted a lot of attention. Hundreds of people sat in front of the head and played with it, quite impressed by the expressiveness of the robot. CeBIT was a great opportunity for visitors to see very different types of robots produced for research or commercial purposes (e.g. humanoids giving information, robot arms drawing portraits, kitchen help robot). EMYS™, iCat, and Pleo were interesting variations of robotic products, different in size from the other robots exhibited, focused on the game companion, expressive behavior and emotion recognition.
